On my own, it was difficult to figure out exactly how hard to push myself and how fast to add time/distance to my running. Another mom mentioned that last fall she used the Couch to 5k method and was running the 5k distance by the end of the training period. After searching for one online, I found a method I liked here.
After finding a good plan, I searched for local 5k runs. I didn't find quite as many options as I hoped to find, but the Run Like a Fool 5k looks pretty good to me. It is on Saturday, April 2, 2011. That only leaves me about 6 weeks to train. So far in my
Plan in place, date set, and ready to accomplish the first half of this goal! Now, who wants to run the Run Like a Fool 5k with me?
Uh...I couldn't run that far to save my life but I'd love to be your cheerleader.
ReplyDeleteWish I could! But, obviously, I cannot with baby coming in 2 weeks. I have a feeling that I'm going to have to work really hard to get the weight off this time around, but one of the hardest parts will be trying to figure out how to exercise with three small children! I only have a double stroller, so at this point I can only see myself as walking with my mom (her pushing a single stroller for the third kid). We'll see! Good luck with your running, Tanya!
ReplyDeleteSounds like maybe some at home work out videos are in order for you as well! Let me know if you need someone else to push a stroller. I would love to!
ReplyDeleteI would totally run that with you but I believe it's on April 2nd (spring break) and we will be in Nashville, TN. But keep me in mind for the next 5k.
